Outlook sent emails showing as drafts
Skip to main content. Select Product Version. All Products. After you send an email using Microsoft Outlook or later versions, a copy of the email message is not saved to the Sent Items folder. The Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder option in Outlook is disabled. Enable the Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder option by following the steps below for your version of Outlook.

Why are sent emails being saved as drafts in outlook?
Sent mail is being saved in drafts folder. But this problem appears in only outlook. I tried to see what's wrong and what's blocking to send emails. But I cannot root cause. What I did is :. If so: switch it off, and see if you then find the missing stuff. My guess is you will find it. In which case: close Outlook, find all OST files on de harddick of the client, and just delete them. The restart Outlook and switch Cached Exchange mode back on.
By the way: I generally set cached exchange mode off, except on laptops. Our mailserver is on premises, so no need to cach mail locally on regular workstations. This is definitely a good start, by shutting off cached mode you will pretty much be working directly off the exchange server and not from a local, synced file.
When and if you do turn cached mode back in, there is a slider adjustment for "Mail to keep offline", change that to All. When asked if I want to save that message, I click "no" but will still find it saved in my Drafts folder afterwards. This only happens when I forward a message with an attachment. When I have started to compose an email - allow it to sit for 20 minutes or more, return and finish the email, press send - it sits in the outbox. This is the only time I have issues.

I have a single user in my company that is complaining that when she sends out an email they are being saved in the Drafts folder.

You can find your Sent Items folder in your folder list. If you have multiple email accounts in Outlook, each email account has its own Sent Items folder. You can search email quickly by using the search option. There are several reasons why an item might not appear in your Sent Items folder. The item hasn't been sent yet. If the email message isn't sent successfully, for example because of connectivity problems or logon issues, it might be stuck in your Outbox folder. If you see a message in the Outbox folder, make sure your connection is working.
